Man attempts to burn to death wife on dowry grudge
Parsa, April 5 (RSS): An incident has been made public here after 10 days that a man attempted to burn to death his 18 year old wife over the dowry dispute in a rural area of the district.
Rabina Khatun from Chhipaharmai Rural Municipality -4 of the district survived such crime perpetrated by her husband Sabir Minya Dhobi and parents-in-law.
When she protested the in-laws’ attempt to exclude her from family after seizing the golden jewelries she was wearing, the husband and in-laws beat her and tried to burn her to death, said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rajan Limbu, quoting Rabina.
Although husband Sabir, father-in-law Farjan Minya Dhobi and mother-in-law Shova Khatun made such criminal effort ten days back, Rabina was able to make it public Thursday.
She could not reveal the incident because she was forced to stay inside home for these 10 days. As she managed to contact the women cell of the District Police Office, she was brought to the Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital, Birgunj, for treatment.
The doctors involved in her treatment said Rabina got serious burns on waist and right leg.
As per Rabina’s complaint, the district police has forwarded the investigation by directing the subordinate police stations to arrest Rabina’s in-laws.
Shabir, who goes to India for job, is learnt to have second wife and a son in India, according to police.
